Baking Day

Grandma Brown in Massachusetts sent the boys a surprise package the other day - books! Books are always a huge hit around here, and one of the books is a Sesame Street cookie cookbook. Both boys love Cookie Monster, and Anderson is "quite the little chef" (his words), so he picked out a recipe right away - Oscar's Garbage Pail Cookies. It was truly an Oscar kind of day, totally yucky outside, but the cookies came out great (don't tell Oscar).

  1. Sarah - Love the photo montage, great use of your creativity. But, you have good subjects to work with as I have very cute grandkids ;)

Anderson - Great name for the blog!

Yea for Grandma Brown and books.

  2. Hi Sarah,

That looks like a good time! Not sure what the cudgel-looking thing is that Anderson has in the last picture, is that a mallet? What are you guys going to try next?

  3. Haha, yes - it is a mallet. What was I thinking?? It was for breaking up the M&Ms for the cookies because I couldn't find those mini M&M chips at the grocery store that the recipe called for. The funny thing is, when I gave a cookie to David to eat, he went and found something to bludgeon it with, because now he thinks that's just what we do when we have cookies, apparently. Oops!

We're making "mall pretzels" tomorrow, though I haven't been able to get anything to rise right with yeast here since we've moved! I'm trying to regular kind tomorrow instead of the quick rise so hopefully that's it.

Thanks, Janice! Hopefully I can get to my MIA pictures soon and get more stuff up here.
